About Mrs. Perkins
My History |
I grew up as an Air Force kid. I lived in England, Wyoming, Nebraska, Texas, and Alaska. Each place was unique and provided different opportunities to learn. My parents drove us to all the local parks and museums regardless of our assigned location. Part of my education (my Bachelor's Degree) was earned at Angelo State University. I loved my classes throughout school (well, most of them!), but I also learned quite a bit in some non-traditional settings. As a child, I learned so much from hiking and camping with my dad. After I became a teacher, I learned quite a bit by working on my summer breaks--at the Fort Worth Zoo, at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, at Sea Camp in Galveston, and even NASA. Although these were science-based programs, I was able to create art and lead art activities at each one! I try to bring in many of these experiences to my classroom, or to find ways to move our classroom outside, so that I can share my love of learning with students.
